DC Chronicles Black Canary's Toughest Battle Ever in Best of the Best
DC is putting Black Canary back in the spotlight this November, as the publisher launches a star-studded new miniseries called Black Canary: Best of the Best.
Black Canary: Best of the Best is written by Tom King (Batman, Mister Miracle) and illustrated by Ryan Sook (Legion of Super-Heroes). Check out the slideshow gallery below for a look at all the cover art for issue #1:
Best of the Best looks to be the DC Universe equivalent of a Rocky movie, as Dinah Lance trains hard to prove herself as the greatest fighter in the entire world. But can she survive a tournament against the deadly Lady Shiva? The series will trace Dinah’s journey as she trains hard and seeks help from some of the greatest warriors in the DCU, including Wildcat, Batman, and even her own mother.
“I’ve been wanting to tell this story for a few years, and I’m really excited for fans to see what Ryan and I have planned for Dinah,” said King in a statement. “He’s got the perfect art style for this series, and fans will feel every punch and kick thrown from the first issue to the finale.”
Best of the Best won’t be part of DC’s All In initiative, but is instead intended as a completely standalone story, similar to the Black Label line. And just to prove how long the series has been in the works, King confirmed that he hid a Black Canary Easter egg in an issue of his Mister Miracle run.
Black Canary: Best of the Best #1 will be released on November 27.
Black Canary fans can also follow the ongoing adventures of Dinah Lance and her friends in Kelly Thompson and Leonardo Romero’s Birds of Prey series.
DC is also kicking off the Absolute Universe this fall. Find out why we think this is DC’s most exciting launch in years.
